Two boys' review: Less fun than watching a Ben 10 rerun

Review Date: November 1, 2008
Reviewer: Jared Castle, Roseburg, Oregon United States
Even though we picked up this game at a discount, thinking anything "Ben 10" related would be fun to play, we were very disappointed.

The negatives:

Game play is monotonous; you roll one die to move and the other to capture an alien. That's it. There's more suspense - and more dice - in Yahtzee.

The game materials are poorly crafted; the red alien finder (a sheet of red plastic like what you'd find in 3-D glasses) easily broke; and the tokens are small pieces of cardboard that bend more often than fit into plastic holders.

My sons are now ages 6 and 4. We enjoy playing board games as a family but it is not easy to find games that are age appropriate and still fun to play more than once or twice. Here's some other games for young kids that I can recommend (and you can check out my Amazon reviews):

No Stress Chess

Wild Planet Hyper Dash

Horrible Waste of Money!!!

Reviewer: D. Gadow,
Wow! What a big disappointment. My son is a Ben10 fanatic and had to have a Ben 10 birthday party. He just turned 8. He was thrilled to receive several Ben 10 items that he actually didn't already have. I didn't think that was possible. This game was one of them. He could barely wait to play it. Geez, if I had only known I would have made it magically disappear and sold it to some unsuspecting soul on e-bay or, better yet, donated it to Salvation Army. It has no educational value at all. It is poorly designed and the cards are flimsy. They'll probably tear with one or two more uses -if that ever even happens. To top it off...it is so DUMB! There is no action like you would expect from the awesome Ben 10 character and aliens. You roll the dice, move your flimsy pawn that falls apart every time you pick it up, flip over a card, see if it matches and then roll another dice to see if you get to keep the card. They call that the alien battle!!! Who thinks of these things? When did rolling a dice become an alien battle to an imaginative 8 year old? Don't waste your money. You'll probably see plenty of them at yard sales going for a buck in the hopes that someone else will find the boredom of this game somehow entertaining. If you can get it for $1 it might be worth your money and time to see how truthful this review is. Total disappointment! We packed it up only 5 minutes into it and turned to Spongebob Life which is much more exciting if you can imagine that.
